1 Strategy Basics
1.1 Role of Internal Comms
Defining the IC role vs. external comms (not in the same department)
1.1.1 Core Responsibilities
Divided into:
- strategize
- enable
- communicate
1.1.2 Positioning & Self-Concept
Where IC is situated in the org in terms of reach and activity. This chapter is most likely going be merged with 1.1
1.2 Goals
1.2.1 Precepts of Internal Comms
I designed three overall precepts/maxims of IC that are supposed to steer the entire thing:
- Transparency: the default is that information is accessible to all. Non-disclosure follows clear criteria
- Trust: this one is about dialog, appreciation and error culture
- Orientation: subdivided into structural (how does the org work, what’s my role?) cultural (esp. corporate values) and practical (access to resources) aspects. each subchapter details the role of IC
1.2.2 Superordinate Corporate Goals
Matching IC goals with the overall goals of the organization - this is to show management that IC isn’t some isolated exercise, but deeply connected to the strategy.
